Measure, measure!

Week four will find our 1st graders measuring how long and tall different items are in our class. We have discussed different tools you can use to measure like a ruler, measuring cups and a thermometer. In math we will use non-standard tools, like paper clips, to measure pencils, crayons, books and even our scissors. I encourage you to let your child practice measuring at home this week with a ruler, tape measure or even measuring spoons!

In science we are learning about states of matter! Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. This week we will be investigating whether objects are solid, liquid or gas! Go on a scavenger hunt with your child to find a few of each in your home!

I encourage you to help your child have a good nights sleep. We work hard all day and they need a lot of energy to focus and stay on task. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. We will be more than happy to schedule a conference with you.

Conference time: 9:00-9:45
